Time is Slipping Away

The Writer's Cabin

My assistant Rudy decided he wanted to help me finish a new book that I am writing. Will be off the presses soon. This is a wonderful place to relax my mind and to let the words flow. My friend was so great to let me use this space for my time of writing this book. Thank you J.

Raindrops All Over

Found a small creek not too far from the house, running high with all the rain we have had. It still amazes me how all these drops of rain add up to feed a creek or a river and to flow into the ocean. 1+1+1+1+........=an ocean of water.

The Blues Today

HO HO HO....

This Santa photo was taken at a friends house. I suppose since he has put his decorations up already..... then it is time for me to go get a tree and decorate it along with my dinner table. HO, HO, HO!!!! Tis the season. Hope everyone has happy holidays.

Back to the City

I do love living on the Olympic Peninsula, but I also enjoy going to Seattle on a day excursion....to do some errands. Took this photo with the camera poked out of the sunroof. I was just holding the camera out snapping pictures. It was interesting the shots that I got without looking at the subject at all. Talking about point and click.... that was the day.

What lies beyond the window is calling me to explore. The infinite possibilities of known as well as unknown adventures await me beyond my wildest dreams. I have gone to many places and many lands, with varied adventures and I still see new adventures ahead.

Thanksgiving

Had the most wonderful Thanksgiving over at my friend's home, MaryAnn and Joe. Thank you for a great evening. Beautiful Thanksgiving table arrangement.

Cool and Crisp

I just like fall with the fallen leaves and the muted colors...cool crisp mornings...the air seems so clean and refreshing; a bit more exhilarating than the hot summer air.

JellyFish Day

Earlier in the day this beautiful jellyfish was floating serenely just beneath the surface of the water. Jellyfish seem so benign and innocent when in the water, with their tentacles hanging down and undulating in the water. But, now out of the water...still beautiful, but not so graceful on a pile of pebbles.

Time Out

It was such a cool and beautiful day yesterday. Went for a short stroll by my friends dock. I try to take time out of my busy schedule to enjoy a few moments of quietness to sort out my thoughts. A short time out, makes for a more creative me.

Fall, Fall, Fall

Beautiful, beautiful fall. A leaf that just fell a minute ago, placed there by an invisible hand just for my enjoyment.

New Fragment

A little glimpse at one of my new paintings, just a fragment view of the vase and flowers. It is a fairly large oil on canvas.

All's Shipshape on the Deck

My assistant Rudy, checking out our little beach house.... helping to make sure all is well on the deck. Rudy is a big ham....always seems to know where to stand to get in the picture.

Relaxing Moments

Stepping onto the wet deck, I quietly watched the rain falling. As I looked around at my gardens and water in the bay my senses were filled with the rich, relaxing smell of damp Earth and the smells of the sea. As I meditated on what was happening around me, a smile slowly appeared on my face. At that moment, I realized that life is unfolding around me in a very delightful way….sounds of rain, waves, leaves slowly falling to the ground, little creatures scurrying about, water dripping from the eves. I think that it is a perfect time for a fire in the chimney.

Ali and Me

Had a great time with our grandson Ali, when he was here at the USC game with the UW... he is doing great things in college.

Cloudy

This morning it is cool, cloudy, misty, rainy......a typical Pacific Northwest November morning. But at least we are not on the East Coast right now. I am really thankful to be living here.

Kale and Roses

Kale for the garden...it really looks beautiful, but smells nothing like the scent of a lovely rose. But, alas, tis fall and the roses are nevermore until next year when the roses blossom once again in the warm summer sun.  Fall is cool,wet and colorful...great time of the year in the Northwest.

The Journey

My journey calls me forth,

Creative Stages

Well... some morning arias that are in the final stages of cleanup and signing... then off to be mounted and framed. There are other larger paintings on the walls, waiting for the final creative touches. It is a wonderful feeling to have the creative spirit flowing so wonderfully right now.

Shadows

Wikipedia says that a shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object... which is a very true statement, but I look at shadows from an artistic standpoint. A shadow is just another abstract line to contemplate and incorporate into my thoughts and into a painting. It is really beautiful how light and shadows can interplay with each other to make wonderful patterns in nature and manmade items. Again, I must write... that beauty is everywhere, if we would take time out of our busy day to explore.

Infinity

In taking time to be still and meditate,  I have become aware of some of the many infinite possibilities to each magical moment.

The Fire Within

Today, I decided to live life to it's fullest... to be bold, dream, and to let the creative fire well up within me and burn brightly... to shine that light to everyone I know and to tell a story through my artwork.

Wabi-Sabi

Had a fantastic afternoon yesterday with friends at my home. I am always the one behind the camera, so it is always a surprise to see a photo of myself. Life is great... Wabi-Sabi.

Sunset Sequim Bay

Visited a friend down the road yesterday afternoon and snapped this photo of the sunset. We have some really stunning sunsets this time of year. Not alot of color, but the clouds are beautiful.

Sea and Sky

Where the sea meets the sky... just waiting to see something magical happen through the fog. What an interesting morning.

Flower Vase

It is always a wonderful surprise to see a new vase full of flowers in my studio every three days. The flowers come from my very large garden. The flowers are part of the creative process for the Morning Arias.

Early Fall Days

Yesterday was a very busy day in the studio and in the house ... finally had a few minutes to relax and enjoy the warm fall afternoon. It was really refreshing to just let go and let everything fall away for a short time. I really love these gorgeous fall afternoons. I wish they would not end.

Beauty in Everything

My eyes constantly search out beauty everywhere and in every environ., in a flower, a mountain, a sonnet, a symphony, and a garden. There is a thrill I feel when I look out at my garden and see the beauty in each flower... a flower, at once so simple, yet so complex... beauty within beauty.

New Every Morning

It seems that every morning when I take my walk in the garden and along the beach, I find something new to photograph. This time it is a jellyfish. Like I have always said, be vigilant, there is something new every morning... somewhere. Hoping that everyone has a terrific day.

The Art Table

The art table, in my studio... filled with all types of objects to help in the creative process. There are many sub-projects going on at any one time, that are also on the table... painting, writing, photography, cards, letters, and even a book.

Looking Up

Sometimes I am so curious about the things around me, that I forget to look upward and see the intricate patterns that the trees and sky make... ever changing with the light, shadows and seasons... abstract forms are all around us. In this busy world we live in, lets take time to look at the things around us in such a way, that we not only look, but actually see with depth the encompassing environs around us.

This Morning's Aria

New Every Morning

I found this on the beach this morning... it is alive. A person never knows what surprises await just around the corner of some long forgotten corner of the world. Even when I walk the same area in the mornings... it is really surprising how many new and interesting things are out there to see, especially when we choose to open our eyes and really take time to explore our surroundings.

Only the Shadow Knows

Morning Aria Creation

A new Morning Aria that I have been working on... it is almost at the stage of being finished. Sometimes it takes awhile until i feel that the painting is done. It is at that special moment when I get this feeling of completion... that the circle from being created to being a complete new work is accomplished.

Rudy My Assistant

Here sits my adorable assistant Rudy. I think he wants to go for a long swim, but I had to convince him otherwise, since after the beach walk we are going to town and it would not be fitting for him to be all wet in the car. He looked at me in agreement and off to the car he went.
